Municipal Election 2026
How to Vote.
Every vote counts. Here's everything you need to know to cast yours on election day.
Election Day
October 26, 2026
Polls are open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Make sure you're registered and know your polling location before the day.
Eligibility
Am I eligible to vote?
You can vote in the Kingston municipal election if you are a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old on election day, a resident of Kingston, or an owner or tenant of property in Kingston, and not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act.
Your Polling Location
Where do I vote?
Your assigned polling location is based on your address. Check the City of Kingston's website to find your voting location closer to election day.
What to Bring
ID requirements
Bring one piece of ID that shows your name and Kingston address — a driver's licence, utility bill, or bank statement all work. If you don't have ID, you can bring a friend or neighbour from your ward to vouch for you.
Advance Polls
Vote early
You don't have to wait until election day. Advance polls will be available in the weeks leading up to October 26, 2026. Check the City of Kingston's website for the full schedule.
Online Voting
Vote by internet
Kingston offers internet voting as an option for registered electors. Online voting opens in the days before election day, giving you the flexibility to cast your ballot from home.
